Green Energy
In today's environmentally sensitive world many companies seek green credentials for their operations and corporate social responsibility policies. Director's duties include having regard to the effect of their decisions on their community and the environment. Green energy is offered by many electricity supply companies but there are a number of different types which leads to confusion. Its generation should have minimal impact on the earth's natural resources. There are three types of environmentally friendly and 'green' energy.
Green energy is offered by many electricity companies but there is only a limited amount of CCL exempt energy. CCL (Climate Change Levy) is a government levy and is part of measures designed to help the UK meet its legally binding commitment to green house gas emissions. It is chargeable on industrial, commercial and agricultural supplies on taxable energy. There is usually a premium for green energy supplies but this is offset or partially offset by exemption from the climate change levy. The Business Advisory Service staff are able to assist with these issues and recommend the best green energy choice for your company.
